The time has come to grow. This tumblr-based archive has been a beautiful passion project for many years, and soon it will evolve. Tumblr will stay up, but future posts will live on Portal and Instagram, with new projects in the works.
What began as a quiet outlet for my personal research has launched a new career in an ever-expanding world. I’m honored to be invited into tattooers’ lives, to love them as friends, to know some as lovers, and to expand my understanding of this ancient, sacred trade.
The Tattrx community is full of powerful people. You are powerful. Your curiosity, your self-exploration, your commitment to being authentic is powerful. The way you stand up to racism and sexism in tattoo studios fills my heart with hope. The way you empower yourself with education before getting a tattoo inspires me (and teaches me new things!) And for the tattooers in the group, it’s just so wild and wonderful to watch you grow.
You’ve also helped me heal, personally. I’m a woman with body dysmorphia, who spent many years in and out of hospitals with an eating disorder and self-inflicted wounds. Tattooing has been more than just an artistic pursuit; it’s a way to reclaim my body from mental illness. It’s a practice of trust and relinquishing control. Tattooing honors my humanity by letting it rise to the surface. I would not be here without you.
Join me on Instagram: @tattrx Art continues to flow there, daily.
Join me on Portal: @portal.xyz This democratic solution to YouTube is where I’ll be deep-diving into all things Tattoo with renowned masters.
And as always, you can reach me directly at: morgan@tattrx.com
I’m looking forward to what’s next, and I hope to see you there.
Love and light, from my home to yours, Morgan @tattrx
Philip Milic Tattoo - Oakland California USA / done in Pittsburgh “Adorned temples show dedication to thought and intentions. honoring the body in this way holds fast through the tests of time. Tattoo was completed during the 2nd FullCircle gathering this time held at @_white_willow_collective this past weekend. Posting [the last] one with no filter. sometimes folks get tricked by the filters and go to the wrong folks for a tattoo due to there Instagram persona. Anyways research before you get a bad tattoo that only looks good on a cellphone filtered through Instagram. So ready for the fall of digital. Take me back to land lines and analog.” - @pmtattoos
